Waving the ISAAC Flag

16-Sep-2015

Celebration, it surrounds us
Every nation, all around us…

– from “Wavin’ Flag,” K’Naan, Official Anthem Version

The ISAAC flag was commissioned more than 20 years ago and has been presented to each conference chair or co-chairs over the years: a tangible symbol of the ISAAC conference legacy changing hands every two years. For ISAAC, it’s a reminder that we should be mindful of celebrating our past while looking forward to the future.

When the ISAAC Executive Board met in Toronto last July, the flag was ceremoniously presented by Franklin Smith, ISAAC Executive Director (below, centre) to our ISAAC Conference 2016 Co-chairs, (L – R) Shelley Deegan, Tracy Shepherd, and Tracy Hunt.

In the above photo, the ISAAC flag stands alongside those of the many nations represented at one of the early ISAAC conferences. (Source: “Happy 25th Birthday, ISAAC”, DVD, 2008)

ISAAC Conference 2016 is now less than one year away. Watch for frequent updates by email to ISAAC members, and through social media. We hope to see you in Toronto!
