Tour a Local AAC Centre

Tours of two facilities are available for visitors for ISAAC 2016 conference delegates. This is a great opportunity for international visitors to explore Canadian facilities and programs. To sign up for a tour, please see the contact information, dates, and times provided below:

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is Canada’s largest children’s rehabilitation hospital focused on improving the lives of kids with disabilities and also a “Visionary Level” Sponsor of the ISAAC 2016 Conference. Holland Bloorview is a global leader in applied research, teaching and learning, and client and family centred care. Our vision is to create a world of possibility for kids with disability.

We pioneer treatments, technologies, therapies and real-world programs that give children with disabilities the tools to participate fully in life. We see children with cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, muscular dystrophy, amputation, epilepsy, spina bifida, arthritis, cleft-lip and palate, autism and other developmental disabilities. A small number of our clients have complex chronic diseases that require round-the-clock medical care.

Our state-of-the-art building has been recognized by the International Academy for Design and Health as “an inspirational building which speaks to a child’s right to participate in our society.”

West Park’s Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Clinic has expertise with addressing the complex face-to-face and/or written communication needs of adult clients with various neurodegenerative disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis (MS), and muscular dystrophy (MD), as well as congenital physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy. Service delivery is provided to West Park’s inpatients and outpatients.
