Support the ISAAC Conference Cancún Virtual Auction! 

A Silent Auction is held at each ISAAC biennial conference to raise funds for ISAAC Conference Travel Assistance Grants. This year we are going mobile! Get ready to participate in a virtual auction at ISAAC Conference Cancún.

What is a virtual auction?

A virtual auction is a type of sale. Its success depends on people donating articles for the auction. Participants at the conference bring donated item(s) to the conference and sign up on the auction website to participate in the auction.

Once registered for the auction, participants can scroll through item photos and descriptions on the auction website. They enter a “bid” (the amount of money they are willing to pay) for each item they want. If someone else is interested in the same item, they may bid a slightly higher amount of money. You can be notified by text if someone bids higher than you. Whoever has the highest bid when the auction closes WINS the item. If you are the winner, you go to the ISAAC booth to pay for and collect your item.

We have found in the past that the final minutes of the silent auction can be very exciting as people finalize their bids and “bidding wars” begin! All winning bids must be settled before the end of the event. Payment must be by credit card.

 

What can you donate?

Almost anything that you are willing to bring with you to the conference! In past years we’ve had:

  • items representing a culture, country or region
  • home-made items
  • store-purchased items
  • arts/crafts
  • AAC books and materials; writing paper
  • music CDs
  • office supplies
  • computers
  • software
  • books

 

How can we make the Conference Cancún Virtual Auction a success?

  1. Donate! As soon as possible, let us know what item(s) you will be donating so we can create the virtual auction and get it ready for bidding.
  2. Bid! Bidding begins on Day 2 of the conference – July 25, 2023 at 7 am.  Check out the items here  (check back frequently as items are being added daily and check the conference app too!)
  3. Visit the ISAAC booth in the Exhibit Hall to see the items you will bid on.

 

To enter item(s) in the auction

  1. Complete the ISAAC Auction Google Form (you will be asked to upload a photo of the item) OR send a photo of the item with a brief description and the estimated value to silentauction@isaac-online.org.
  2. Bring donated item(s) to the ISAAC Booth in the Exhibit Hall on the first day of the conference – Monday, July 24, between 10:30 am and 3:30 pm. Donations will not be accepted after 3:39 pm.
  3. We prefer you complete the Google Form by July 20, but if you have last minute items you want to donate, you can bring them to the ISAAC booth. Volunteers will help you add your items to the Virtual Auction.

 

To bid on items

  1. Bidding opens on Tuesday, July 25 at 7:00 am.
  2. Click on the button below or on this link to go to the Bidding Owl website where you will see the items and be able to bid on them.
  3. Bid early, bid often!
  4. If you have the highest bid when the auction closes, go to the Conference Cancun registration table to pay for your item with a credit card. Take your receipt to the ISAAC Virtual Auction Booth in the Exhibit Hall to pick up your item(s).
